Free art galleries, sensory kits at the Box Office, free parking by the door, and sensory-friendly shows with softer lights, lower sound and a safe room. Here is the quiet way through it, in the Center's own words.
Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities
6901 Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada 80003 · Box Office and Galleries: Monday to Friday 11 am to 7 pm, Saturday 10 am to 4 pm, Sunday noon to 4 pm. Galleries stay open until 7:30 pm on select theatre nights, Wednesday to Saturday. Holiday closures: not stated.
“Sensory-friendly are relaxed performances designed to be welcoming and inclusive for families” “This includes softened lighting effects, lowering sound levels and a reduction of sudden movements.” “Lights are kept higher in the theatre so audience members can see each other.”
Sensory kits: “These kits are available for check-out at the Box Office at any time during business hours.” At theatre performances, “you can check out a sensory kit at the Accessibility table.”
Our note No sensory-friendly performance is listed between now and the end of January. The next one is Pete the Cat on Fri Feb 12 2027 at 1 pm. The accessibility events page has a “LOAD MORE” button, so call the Box Office at 720-898-7200 to be sure nothing was missed.
Our note The Center names no quieter time. The galleries are free every day they are open, so there is no free-day crowd to plan around. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Nov 20 to Jan 3) has ASL performances Dec 2 and Dec 12, but these are not sensory-friendly and the show page gives no strobe, haze or sound warnings.
Sensory kits can be checked out at the Box Office any time it is open, and at the Accessibility table at shows. Contents, cost and deposit: not stated.
The galleries are free. Reserve a free spot online or check in at the Box Office.
Parking is free and close to the entrance; ADA spots are closest to the main entrance.

What the Center doesn't say
not stated what is in the sensory kit, and any cost or deposit
not stated where the safe room is
not stated a quiet space on regular days
not stated a building re-entry or late seating rule
Free parking close to the entrance. Check in at the Box Office for the free galleries and borrow a sensory kit there. At a show, the Accessibility table has kits too; get to your seat five minutes early. At a sensory-friendly show, the lights stay higher, the sound is lower, there are fewer sudden movements, people can come and go, and there is a safe room. The next one is Feb 12 2027. Change anything.
One tip from a dad who's been there
Start with the free galleries; they cost nothing, so you can leave whenever you like. Ask the Box Office for a sensory kit when you check in. For a show, call 720-898-7200 ahead to ask about sensory-friendly dates. Leaving early still counts as an Arvada Center day.
Common questions
What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?
That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.
Can I make this in Spanish?
Yes. Every tool and this page exist in Spanish, and the printed page comes out in the language you choose. Use the language switch at the top.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no signup, and we don’t keep what you type; anything you save stays on your device. Make it, print it, done.
