Who it's for, in BOEC's words

In their own words boec.org

BOEC teaches “all disciplines of adaptive skiing and snowboarding, including but not limited to four-track, visually impaired, three-track, autism, learning delays, mono-skiing, and bi-skiing. Lessons are conducted on a personalized, one-on-one basis.”

“All information shared with us during your pre-lesson call with BOEC Ski Program staff is critical to ensuring that we have selected the best option for each participant.”

Our note BOEC names autism in its list of what it teaches, and every lesson is one-on-one, with the equipment and lift ticket included.

Our note You fill out an application first, then a pre-lesson call. That call is the time to tell them everything that helps your kid: what overwhelms them, how they show it, what calms them, and how they do with waiting in lines.

Our note High season costs more and fills faster: Dec 19 to Jan 3, Jan 16 to 18, Feb 13 to 21 and March 6 to 31.

Three things to know

  1. One-on-one lessons for skiers and riders over the age of four, with instruction, equipment and the student's lift ticket included.
  2. Breckenridge and Keystone: $310 full day, $200 half day; high season $340 and $220. Lunch isn't included or supervised.
  3. Stand-up skiers and riders need to walk the length of the lift line and stand up after a fall on their own or with very little help. If that's hard for your kid, ask about sit-ski options on the intake call.

More ways to get ready for the ski lesson

What to expect

You apply first, then have a call with the ski office about your kid. On lesson day you check in at the BOEC base, the instructor fits the gear, and the lesson is one-on-one at your kid's pace. Lunch isn't included, and nobody supervises lunchtime. Change anything.

Common questions

What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?

That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.

Can I make this in Spanish?

Yes. Every tool and this page exist in Spanish, and the printed page comes out in the language you choose. Use the language switch at the top.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no signup, and we don’t keep what you type; anything you save stays on your device. Make it, print it, done.
