Twelve acres of history with horses, goats, chickens and pigs, a historic house, and a free KultureCity sensory bag at the front desk. The goats can be loud. Here is the calm way through, in the park's own words.
Four Mile Historic Park
715 S. Forest St, Denver 80246 · June to December: Wednesday to Sunday 10 am to 4 pm. January to May: Friday to Sunday 10 am to 4 pm. Last entrance 3:30 pm. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and for special events as posted.
“Need another option? Visit us during General Daytime Admission” and “explore the lanterns without lights and sound at your own pace Wednesday-Sunday 10am-4pm.”
“Guests can borrow a KultureCity® Sensory Bag at the Front Desk in the Grant Family Education Center.”
Our note The park doesn't say which days are quieter. Free days (listed: Oct 23, Nov 20, Dec 18) are usually the busiest, and the park adds blacksmithing and demonstrations, which means more noise.
Our note The hours page says Wednesday to Sunday, but the plan-your-visit page said Friday to Sunday when we checked. Call 720.865.0800 before a Wednesday or Thursday visit.
Our note The fourth-Friday rule would also give Nov 27 and Jan 22, but the park's 2026 list uses Nov 20 and Dec 18 instead and no 2027 list is posted. We'd treat those as unconfirmed.
Our note Brunch with Father Christmas (Sat Dec 12, 9 am to 1 pm) has tractor rides and a costumed Father Christmas; no sensory note is given.

What the park doesn't say
not stated a quiet room or indoor calm space
not stated a re-entry rule
not stated where first aid is
not stated stroller, wagon or bag rules
not stated what the paths on the grounds are like
not stated a social story on the park's own site
not stated if the sensory bag needs ID or a deposit
Park free in the lot on E. Exposition Ave and walk in the barrier-free entrance of the Grant Family Education Center. Get tickets and a free sensory bag at the Front Desk, then head out onto the grounds: farm animals, the Four Mile House Museum (no food inside), and room for a picnic. Through Nov 8 the Bright Nights lanterns are on the grounds, and by day you can see them without lights and sound. Last entrance 3:30 pm. Change anything.
One tip from a dad who's been there
Ask for the free sensory bag at the Front Desk before you head outside, and tell your kid the goats may yell. Call ahead before a Wednesday or Thursday visit, since the park's own pages disagree on which days it is open. Leaving early still counts as a Four Mile day.
Common questions
What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?
That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.
Can I make this in Spanish?
