Santa's Lighted Forest is a 55-minute evening train ride through more than 300,000 lights near Georgetown, and Santa comes through the train on every ride before Christmas.
Know before you go. The railroad doesn't list a sensory-friendly train. Here's what it does say about the ride, the seats and Santa.
“we do sell out frequently and cannot guarantee seats upon your arrival without a reservation.” georgetownlooprr.com
Space
Coach cars are “fully enclosed with bench style seating along either side of the car,” and seating is “first come first serve.” fareharbor.com (booking)
Light
“more than 300,000 twinkling lights illuminate the station, surrounding landscape, and forest alongside the tracks.” georgetownlooprr.com
Waits
“Tickets are NOT mailed or emailed. Please arrive to the depot 30 minutes prior to departure to pick up your printed tickets. You will not be able to board without these tickets.” georgetownlooprr.com
Rules
“there are no restrooms on the train itself but, there are restrooms at both stations.” georgetownlooprr.com
“Santa visits you on the train while riding through the forest and over the 95 foot tall High Bridge!” “Santa will be joining us on every departure until Christmas.”
Our note Santa visits you on the train, so there's no line to stand in. If your kid would rather not meet him, tell Santa when he comes by that your kid is just watching today. Headphones can help.
Our note “We run rain or shine, so please bring a jacket.” It's an evening ride in the mountains in winter.

Common questions
What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?
That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.
