What to expect

Most of what makes a haircut hard is the surprise: the sound, the feeling, the not-knowing-when-it-ends. Walking through the steps first, and naming that the buzzing can feel funny, takes most of the surprise out of it. You know your kid. Change anything.

One tip from a dad who's been there

Ask for the first appointment of the day (quietest), bring headphones, and tell the stylist your child may need a break. A printed first-then card in your kid's hand helps them see the end coming.

Common questions

What if my child is scared of the clippers?

Ask the barber to start with scissors, or let your child watch a sibling go first. The story names the buzzing ahead of time so it is expected, not an ambush. Short visits count as wins.
