Getting ready for Meow Wolf.

Dark rooms, flashing lights, fog, music and some loud noises, plus free headphones and sunglasses at the desk. Meow Wolf rates every area for sound. Here is the quiet way through it, in its own words.

Meow Wolf Denver (Convergence Station)

1338 1st St, Denver 80204 · Days and times vary. Open every day of the week, but hours change with weather, demand and special events; open a date on the Denver ticket calendar to see that day's hours. Entry by timed ticket only. Holiday closures: not stated.

When it's quieter

In their own words faq.meowwolf.com

“Consider visiting on a weekday or morning for the possibility of a smaller crowd.”

“There are many spaces or rooms throughout the exhibitions that are designed for more minimal sensory experiences.”

Our note No sensory-friendly dates or hours are published. The visit page mentions early visits, but they are not defined or scheduled. Meow Wolf's approach is free items, trained staff and lower-sensory rooms during regular hours.

Our note The Broncos play next door. On Broncos home game days there is no on-site parking and rates go up, so check the Broncos schedule before picking a date. Sat Oct 31 is an adults-only event night (8 pm to 1 am), so daytime hours that day may be shorter; check the calendar.

Our note The lower-sensory rooms are not named or mapped. By Meow Wolf's own ratings the café is the lowest for sound; ask a team member which rooms are calmest that day.

Three things to know

  1. Free to borrow, while supplies last: noise-reduction headphones (kids and adults), sunglasses, fidgets, stress balls, communication cards, an unbreakable mirror. One FAQ page says the Coat Check Desk (1st floor), another says Guest Services just past security; ask at whichever you reach first.
  2. Lower-sensory rooms exist but are not named; ask a team member which ones. Staff are trained on cognitive disabilities and sensitivities, and Meow Wolf is an IBCCES Certified Autism Center.
  3. Re-entry: Meow Wolf's pages disagree. The visit page: “There is no early entry or re-entry to the exhibition: guests may only enter Convergence Station at their ticketed time.” The FAQ: “General Admission guests* are allowed to re-enter the exhibition on the same day that their purchased ticket is valid.” “You must visit the guest services desk to get your hand stamped before you exit.” Ask at Guest Services and get a hand stamp before leaving if you plan to come back.

What to expect

Timed tickets, so you go in at your ticket time. Security has a metal detector and a bag check. Then a walk-through art exhibition with dark spaces, strobe and flashing lights, fog and music. Meow Wolf rates C-Street, Eemia and Ossuary 9 of 10 for sound and the café 3. Headphones, sunglasses and fidgets are free at the desk, and there are lower-sensory rooms; ask a team member. Change anything.

One tip from a dad who's been there

Read Meow Wolf's own Denver Sensory Guide the night before, and check the Broncos schedule before you pick a date. If you might step out and come back, ask at Guest Services for a hand stamp first, because Meow Wolf's pages disagree on re-entry. Leaving early still counts as a Meow Wolf day.

Common questions

What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?

That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.

Can I make this in Spanish?

Yes. Every tool and this page exist in Spanish, and the printed page comes out in the language you choose. Use the language switch at the top.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no signup, and we don’t keep what you type; anything you save stays on your device. Make it, print it, done.
