Check first, and safe grown-ups.

A simple rule that keeps kids safe: check with my grown-up first before I go anywhere or take anything, and know who my safe grown-ups are.

More ways to teach the rule

What to expect

Instead of teaching fear of strangers, which is confusing because most people are kind and helpers can be strangers, teach the check-first rule: ask your grown-up before going anywhere with anyone or taking anything. Pair it with knowing two or three named safe grown-ups. A clear rule beats a scary story, and it works even with people the child knows. You know your kid.

One tip from a dad who's been there

Make the rule about the action, not the person: we check first before we go or take, every time, no matter who is asking. Name your safe grown-ups out loud and write them down so the list is real.

Common questions

What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?

That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.

Can I make this in Spanish?

Yes. Every tool and this page exist in Spanish, and the printed page comes out in the language you choose. Use the language switch at the top.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no signup and nothing you type is stored. Make it, print it, done.
