Clearview Library District, Windsor Library: Adaptive Storytime with ASL
“Join us for a sensory-friendly storytime, incorporating basic ASL and designed for children of all abilities, needs, and learning styles. For ages 0-5. Older children and siblings are welcome.”
“Registration is required to maintain a smaller group size. One registration per family.”
Our note Registration is per date, so check that you are signed up for each one you want.
Our note Hand signs are part of the program for every child, so a child who doesn't speak fits right in.
“In this adaptive program, we will use American Sign Language (ASL) to teach different words while singing songs, sharing stories, and engaging in interactive activities.”
“After storytime there will be an opportunity for free-choice play and caregiver socialization.”

The librarian uses simple American Sign Language to teach words while singing songs, sharing stories and doing interactive activities. After storytime there is free-choice play while grown-ups chat. Older kids and siblings are welcome. Change anything.
Common questions
What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?
That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.
Can I make this in Spanish?
Yes. Every tool and this page exist in Spanish, and the printed page comes out in the language you choose. Use the language switch at the top.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no signup, and we don’t keep what you type; anything you save stays on your device. Make it, print it, done.
