Sensory help, in the City's words

“Recreation spaces can feel too loud, bright, and busy for some guests. To increase accessibility, Play for All Sensory Kits and weighted lap pads are available to borrow at the front desk of the Frisco Athletic Center, The Grove at Frisco Commons, Frisco Discovery Center, and Frisco Heritage Center.”

“Each kit includes noise-canceling headphones, sunglasses, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and other tools to support guests in sensory-friendly Play!”

“Our social narratives can help prepare you for a visit to Play Frisco recreation centers and museums.”

  • Kits are checked out first come, first served. Return the kit to staff at the desk at the end of your visit.
  • At the Discovery Center, the Quiet Space is in the Black Box Theater Foyer, through the Black Box Theater doors, and staff can help you find it. TrainTopia also has a bench for a break.
  • Quiet Space signs point to less busy areas. At the Athletic Center, The Grove and the Heritage Center, a headphone symbol on signs marks areas that may be louder, and a sunglasses symbol marks lights that may be brighter.
  • At the Heritage Center, some exhibits may have flashing light or a strong smell, and exhibits change from visit to visit. The Grove at Frisco Commons is an active adult center for ages 50 and up.
