Getting an EEG.

Soft stickers on the head that listen to the brain. It does not hurt, and knowing that first takes most of the worry away.

What to expect

An EEG records brain waves with small stickers or a soft cap. Nothing sharp, nothing that hurts. The paste is cool and a little sticky. Sometimes the lights flash or they ask for slow breaths. Holding still is the main job, so bring what helps your kid stay calm and still. You know your kid.

One tip from a dad who's been there

Ask if you can bring headphones and a favorite show for the still part. Practice the sticker feeling at home with a sticker on the forehead the day before, so the sensation is not brand new.

Common questions

What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?

That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.

Can I make this in Spanish?

Do I need an account?
