Getting ready for Play Street Museum Colorado Springs.

A small children's museum for ages 1 to 8, built around the great outdoors: a treehouse, a life-sized jeep, a lakeside cabin, a general store and a pretend fire pit. Play happens in 90-minute reserved sessions.

Know before you go. The museum doesn't list sensory hours or a quiet room. Here's what it does say about sessions, rules and the room.

Having the room to yourselves, in the museum's words

In their own words coloradosprings.playstreetmuseum.com

Party Option 1: “Private use of Play Street Museum for 1 1/2 hours.” $400, up to 20 children.

Our note The museum offers private playdates too. Call 719-377-9779 to ask what a private session costs for just your family.

Our note Because there's no re-entry, a break outside ends the session. A quiet spot in the car can be the plan B.

Our note The museum can ask a child who is disrupting others to leave. If that worries you, a private playdate means only your family is in the room.

Three things to know

  1. Admission is $16 per child ages 1 to 8. Babies under 1 are free with a paying sibling. Grown-ups don't need a ticket. A 5-visit pass is $65.
  2. Reservations are nonrefundable, but you can pass your spot to a friend; they just tell staff at check-in.
  3. The restroom has a changing station. There is free wifi and a gift store.

What it doesn't list

  • sensory hours or a quieter session
  • a quiet room or corner

What to expect

Reserve a 90-minute session online and sign the waiver for each child before you go. Walk-ins get in at the start of a session only if there's room. You stay with your kid the whole time; it isn't a drop-off. There's no food in the play area, but drinks are welcome. Once you leave, you can't come back in for that session. Change anything.

Common questions

What if my child won't look at the schedule or story?

That is common at first. Leave it where the moment happens, point to one picture at a time, and keep it low-pressure. Many kids warm up to it after a few calm tries, in their own time.

Can I make this in Spanish?

Yes. Every tool and this page exist in Spanish, and the printed page comes out in the language you choose. Use the language switch at the top.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no signup, and we don’t keep what you type; anything you save stays on your device. Make it, print it, done.
