Getting ready forSalt Lake City International Airport (SLC).
SLC has three KultureCity sensory rooms in the concourses: Concourse A-east, Concourse B-west and Concourse B-east by Gate B36. You call the Airport Control Center at 801-575-2401 to get in.
“The dedicated spaces are designed by medical professionals for individuals who may need a quiet environment. The sensory rooms are designed with bean bags, visual light panels, activity panels and air walls.”
A Sunflower lanyard, wristband or pin is “a subtle way of letting others know that the wearer may require additional support, assistance or a bit more time to navigate the airport.”
With three rooms across both concourses, check which concourse your gate is in and plan for the room on that side.
The airport says the rooms are only for people with sensory challenges, not for other uses.
To get into a room, call the Airport Control Center at 801-575-2401.
Sunflower lanyards, wristbands and pins are at the Visitor Information Desk on level 2 by the escalators.
SLC posts an adult guide, a child social narrative called “Flying at SLC,” a resource called “Expecting the Unexpected,” and sensory maps of the terminal and concourses.
SLC provides the rooms with KultureCity and says medical professionals designed them.
