Getting ready forDetroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).
DTW has a Multi-Sensory Room in the McNamara Terminal, across from Gate A36. It's open 24 hours a day for up to six people, and you call for an access code with the number posted by the door.
“The Multi-Sensory Room is designed to provide a calm, supportive and welcoming environment for individuals with sensory sensitivities or cognitive disabilities, and their families.”
The Sunflower symbol “alerts airport workers that special attention or additional assistance may be needed.” “Displaying the symbol does not permit travelers to move ahead of others in lines.”
The room is in the McNamara Terminal by Gate A36. If your flight leaves from another concourse or terminal, plan the walk into your time.
The room holds six people at most, so you may need to wait if it's full.
To get in, call the number posted by the door for an access code.
Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for up to six people.
Sunflower lanyards and wristbands: at the airport, ask at a WCAA Police podium at any TSA checkpoint. Before your trip, email external.affairs@wcaa.us at least ten business days ahead.
The Sunflower lanyard has a safety break at the back of the neck, and the wristband is silicone.
